Workflow Documents

Design invoices, packing slips, product sheets or customer summaries as HTML and Liquid templates, or with the visual builder, and render them to PDF. A document is generated when a Shopify Flow workflow runs the Generate document action, when you create it in the admin, or when your own tools call the Developer API or the MCP server.

What it does

Templates

HTML, CSS and Liquid with the full order, product or customer object, or a visual builder for the common layouts.

PDF rendering

Rendered by a Chromium-based renderer inside our own cluster. No third-party rendering service sees your documents.

Flow, admin and API

Generate a document as a Flow action, from the admin or through the Developer API and the MCP server.

Download links

Shopify Flow and the API receive a signed link that expires after 7 days. Documents are kept for the retention period of your plan.

How it works

PDF documents from Shopify Flow, the admin or the API

1. Design a template

Start from one of the included templates and adjust the layout, the logo and the fonts.

2. Generate

Add the Generate document action to a Shopify Flow workflow, for example when an order is paid.

3. Deliver

Attach the PDF to an email with Workflow Transactional Email, save the link to a metafield or download it in the admin.
